A Heartbreaking Event Reiner was discovered deceased alongside his spouse, Michele Singer Reiner, at their home in Los Angeles at the weekend. “We will miss this man so deeply…” Ryan wrote on Instagram, accompanying a photo of them together. “Our gratitude, Rob and Michele, for your faith in true love, stories, and joy. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.” Court Case Developments Reiner’s son Nick, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and appeared in court today. He’s being held without bail. Reports indicate that Reiner’s daughter Romy discovered her father deceased. “I must hold onto hope that their tale doesn't conclude here, that awareness can be heightened from this,” Ryan added. “While uncertain, I suspect they'd wish for a hopeful, compassionate outcome that fosters mutual understanding and peace.” Children Share Their Grief Reiner’s surviving children Jake and Romy shared a statement today. “Language fails to capture the daily agony we endure,” they said. “Losing our parents in such a horrific way is a devastation beyond comprehension. Beyond being our mom and dad, they were our dearest friends.” Colleagues and Friends Remember Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, similarly honored Reiner via comments shared yesterday along with names including Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks. “No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” the tribute noted. “He cherished performers and improved scribes. Freedom was his key offering. He listened to ideas and included you in the creative journey. They always felt they were working as a team. To be in his hands as a film-maker was a privilege but that is only part of his legacy.” A Lasting Cinematic Legacy When Harry Met Sally was a box office and critical triumph in 1989, grossing more than $93 million worldwide and securing Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner whilst filming When Harry Met Sally. The pair were brought together by Barry Sonnenfeld, a friend and director. Reiner’s notable filmography also included classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were husband and wife for over three decades.
