On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and data retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test during the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most widely reported child disappearance cases and remains open.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another voicemail, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I know what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am she? What happens next? Is that not important for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.

The jury was advised that through electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a effort to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, advised the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to family friends of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On October 9th, 2024, the father picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my position."

The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be considered genuine in the months leading up to the visit to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court was told communications between the two individuals, in last November, considering endeavoring to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a restaurant.

"We need to take action," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the visit to their home, the defendant transmitted a communication which said: "We are positioned adjacent to the McCanns' house with our headlights off similar to investigators. I wanted to do this with someone else I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The proceedings continues.
