Indianapolis Colts Face Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10

Hello, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the capital city.

Pregame Key Moments

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?

Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Gameplay

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Score Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
