Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
