PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
