The President Welcomes Families of Shot National Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” he addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
