The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a representative explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
