The Evolution of a Cult is often marked by clear stages.

1. The Core Concept

A dominant personality or figureheads introduce a new and transcendent idea pledging a panacea for disconnected individuals.

Thus we find ourselves. They’re getting ready to challenge the establishment overseas. The gunships are circling. Smoke is rising from within. An isolated player, vulnerable, anxious, the slogan POSITIVE INTENT written on his body in chicken blood, has stumbled from the field and is being led away with discretion to a different team at Derbyshire.

Remember the beginning, when the world was still young? The days of Bazball 1.0, of uninhibited aggression.

2. The Honeymoon Phase

Team architects offer a fresh beginning, hope for a future, love, success among a group united in belief in the big idea.

What did it represent initially? Just men on a balcony basking in glory. Tattoos. Strength. Jawlines. Confident masculinity. Of course, The team insist they don’t use the label, which is funny because if it doesn’t exist, what was that spectacle?

But we know the concept. It’s the player attempting a move so depraved it’s beyond belief. It’s the adrenaline of the leader in ultimate mode, an expression conveying: focused titan, strong features, untamed style, truly contemporary you almost imagine to notice and notice he’s fielding in the field shirtless embracing nature.
